SB3 Irish Nationals - Day 1

by Sail-World.com/uk on 30 Aug 2008
Over seventy boats from eight different nations are competing in this years SB3 Irish National Championships being held this weekend at the Royal St George Yacht Club with racing taking place in Dublin Bay.

After Friday's racing, when three races were completed, Craig Burlton, Heeley and White (GBR) lead after winning two of the three races. In second are Gareth Flangan, Tomaum and Flanagan (IRL) who won the opening race. In third place are Chris Jennings, Everest and Hughston (GBR).

The strong international flavour to the event sees boats entered from as far away as the Netherlands, Italy and Dubai.

Many sailors are using the Irish Nationals as a Pre-Worlds as the Inaugural SB3 World Championships will take place three weeks later in the National Yacht Club. The World Championships have attracted 150 entries and it will be one of the main events on this year’s Irish sailing calendar.
